I am an architect and I have written two books about Ithaca: Odysseus’ Island and Walking in the Footsteps of Odysseus. I have since published essays by my two principal professional sources for these books. Firstly, an essay by the Philologist Professor George L Huxley can be accessed free in eBook form from the Ithacan Historical Society in Melbourne through this link: https://ithacanhistorical.org/s/BIHS-2-2024-Huxley.pdf
Secondly, I have published two accounts by the archaeologist Professor Thanasis Papadopoulos from the University of Ioannina concerning his excavation at Agios Athanasios / School of Homer on Ithaca (see picture above) The Archaeological Evidence for the Palace of Odysseus on Ithaca.
Since excavation was halted in 2011, Professor Lolos and Dr. Marampea from the University of Ioannina have continued to sort through the boxes of finds made by their predecessors Litsa Kontorli-Papadopoulou and Thanasis Papadopoulos. The Ministry of Culture have now announced that the complex at Agios Athanasios can be definitively identified as a centre of hero-worship of Odysseus on Ithaca. Interesting things have been unpacked from these boxes including a couple of roof tiles from 2nd C BC with writing referring to Odysseus. See:
